Network Issue for meetings and online features

Several factors could prevent Arkio from sending or receiving data to or from our servers and other Arkio clients. Please follow the steps below if you are experiencing issues with internet-connected features, such as Arkio meetings, resource sharing, licenses, maps and Meta-related features like colocation

1. Make sure you are using the latest version of Arkio

With every update, we add new functionality to Arkio. You may be using an older version that is no longer compatible with updates on other devices. You can check the version number in Arkio from your settings panel, and refer to our release notes for the latest version.

2. Make sure your devices have a stable internet connection

Check if your device can access the internet, and use speedtest.net to see if you have a stable connection. In some cases, your organization may require your device to have special network permissions to allow applications like Arkio to communicate with the internet.

3. Try connecting your device via another Wifi network

It's possible that the Wi-Fi network you connected to doesn't have a stable open signal to your device. If you have another network nearby, you can try this instead, or use your phone's cellular data as a hotspot to connect your device to an Arkio meeting.

4. Use the Arkio app on your phone

To determine if your active device has issues, you can verify if you can connect to an Arkio meeting using the Arkio app on your personal iOS or Android device. If you use cellular data on your phone (4G or 5G), this can rule out any device-specific or WiFi connection issues.

5. Contact your IT department

After trying the previous steps, you will have a better understanding of whether your issue is device or network-related. In some cases, it might be an organizational network or firewall setting.

Technical details

Arkio uses WebSocket Secure for encrypted collaboration and voice channels between Arkio clients. Please ensure that WSS traffic over port 443 can pass through your firewall/router for the Arkio meetings to function correctly.

If WSS via port 443 is not accessible, the following TCP ports will be used: 4533, 4530, 4531.

The following FQDN addresses need to be accessible for Arkio's online feature to work correctly:

  • arkio.is

  • ns.photonindustries.io

  • s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com

  • users.licensespring.com

  • api.mixpanel.com

  • api.mapbox.com
