LiDAR scans

Using your LiDAR scanner on your iOS device opens up new ways to quickly scan 3D environments and objects with precision. There are several scanning apps available, each with its own strengths.

Our favorite apps for creating and exporting LiDAR models are Scaniverse and Polycam. Both are free to export models to GLB, which can be loaded into Arkio. After you have made your 3D scenes, you can bring models to Arkio on the iPhone or iPad by exporting your GLB to the following path: iPhone/Arkio/Arkio/Import/Models

You can also upload your scanned files to the Arkio Cloud portal to share your models directly to multiple devices. Please note that most 3D scanning apps use a default name for exports. You can best name your files correctly before importing the models into Arkio to make it easier to work with multiple scanned files.

You can select Share>Export to GLB, gltf or OBJ models and put the scanned files in your Arkio/Import/Models folder or upload to the Arkio cloud. After this, you can start Arkio, load the model into your scene, and share it with other devices via an Arkio meeting or via the Arkio Cloud. You can learn more about loading and placement options from our other import/export pages: Import & export basics
