PC VR and hybrid mode

When running Arkio on a PC with a VR headset connected, you can choose to show a smoothed VR camera (default). Or enable a third-person hybrid camera that allows the local PC user to navigate, view, and collaborate on the same model as the VR user, even when offline.

You can press the top-left screen icon to switch from the normal, smoothed PC VR camera to enable the normal, non-VR UI of Arkio. This can be controlled like a normal flat version of Arkio, where the PC user can move around the model, load items, and view the other person's Meta avatar in third-person.

The PC hybrid mode can be handy when working on Arkio from both VR and PC, for example, to select and import files from our plugins or to help guide users new to VR around your models. You can return to the full-screen, smoothed VR view by clicking the headset icon in the bottom left corner.

The PC version of Arkio can load larger files and render in higher resolution than Arkio on a Quest headset. This makes the smoothed VR camera and 3rd person Hybrid mode great for creating recordings or presentations of what is happening inside Arkio that are comfortable to watch on a 2D screen.

If you have trouble starting Arkio on PC in your VR headset, see these troubleshooting steps.

On devices that support AR capabilities, it's also possible to view the model in Augmented Reality. Please refer to the user interface page for more information on using the non-VR version of Arkio.
